"I was born and raised in Miami and come from a multicultural family. I speak Spanish and know American Sign Language. At the age of 12, I began helping women during the birthing and postpartum process. I have had the privilege to be a part of the births of my 16 nieces, nephews, cousins, and 2nd cousins. In our family, my grandmother would open her house for the couple who had just had a baby and we would pamper them until three months or when they were ready to go home...that was my favorite part. I grew up thinking that I would become an architect because of my artistic skills and my schooling; however, when my sister gave birth to Anaya (that's the cutie in the picture with me!), I knew that I had been a midwife all my life. I attended Miami Dade College and graduated with an Associates in Science in Midwifery. I trained in Miami and also in Spanish Town Hospital, Jamaica, W.I. I did mostly homebirths with other midwives when I first began practicing, but in 2006 I worked at a birth center and did both homebirths and birth center births. I had the opportunity to usher my nephew into the world in October 2006. As of February 2009, I became a part of The Birth Place and I look forward to serving YOU and your family!"
